Day 59/365

Had a few afterwork/goodbye drinks yesterday as Canada is taking my dear friend Mikey. The proper ‘Last Hurrah’ was Saturday but a few casuals in the Pav is the real way to say the ol’ farewell.

Just a few atmospheric snaps as I didn’t want to spend the evening with my camera in everyones face :)

Until next time,

The High Life

J1 summer is slowly coming to an end and a life abroad has been one hell of an experience. Over the next few days I’ll finally be seeing a baseball game, be hitting six flags and of course explore the Harvard campus.

No need for any more words as these photos are quite simple and I have today’s post coming later on today anywho. Found a solution to our electrical conundrum. Huzzah!! :)

Trinity Ball

Yiiii, so, Friday night was the biggest night of the college year, the annual Trinity ball. For those who don’t know it’s a ball put on at the end of the second semester which takes over the entire campus. Tents are set up all over the grass lawns with stages for performers like Friendly Fires, Professor Green, Bitches With Wolves, Fake Blood and more.

Now, before you go and think this was a tremendously classy event with ball-gowns and tuxedos, it’s a night which involves portaloos, naggins up skirts and little remembrance of the nights en devours. It’s awesome though and has left me already gagging for next year. Hurr-aaah mateys!

These photos are from the transport to and of the pre-sesh (which was also birthday cheers for two of the lads; Eanna and Andy, wooo!). There was drinks, dinner and drinking of more drinks before getting in taxis to head towards town.

I could try and explain the actual ball, but I’ts really a ‘you gotta be there’ and ‘I cant fully remember’ situation. I of course left my good camera at my friends as I wasn’t risking a scratch on my pride and joy. I never got a photo of me in my dress, but this just means I can wear it again, woo and WOOO! :)

Orange Noms

Like i promised… here is how I made the orange slices shown in this weeks Saturdays Seven. These taste like a supersplit and are delish.

Ill explain this using my example of a mixture that makes 2pints (roughly 1 litre) of liquid.

It really couldn’t be simpler and for it all you need is;
– Oranges (I used 8 )
– Jelly mix
– Boiling Water
– Spiced Rum (I went with good ol’ Captain Morgans… who else!)
– A sharp knife
– Muffin tray

Step ONE…

Cut oranges in half and squeeze the juice into a bowl. Sieve the juice to get rid of the pulp and save it until later to add to the jelly mix.

Step TWO…

Scoop out the middle of the oranges and place aside.

Step THREE…

In a bowl mix together the jelly mix with 1/2 pint (250ml) of boiling water. Stir the mix until it becomes clear and there are no clumps left. This should only take 2-3 minutes.

Step FOUR…

Add another 1/2 pint (250ml) of the orange juice from the oranges to the mixture and continue to stir until mixed in well.

Step FIVE…

Its now time for the SPICED RUM, noms!.. Add roughly a pint (500ml) to the mixture and again stir (but gently.. this mix has now become gold). If too strong add less rum and more juice, completely depends on individual taste and aspired intoxication level!

Step SIX…

Go back to the halved scooped out oranges. Place them into a muffin tin to give them a place to sit soundly. MAKE SURE they sit with the tops straight or delisious orange jelly goodness will SPILL once pored in. Remember; this is now a golden mix so spilage will result in alcohol waistage… this is bad… you dont waist alcohol… no no no!

Step SEVEN…

Pour delisious mixture very carfully into the halfed oranges remembering the value of this liquid… its not just any-old jelly mix.

Step EIGHT…

Now, with a very steady hand, carefully and smoothly relocate the muffin tins to the fridge for cooling and solidifying of the jelly.

Step NINE…

Once the Orange Jelly mix has set take the halfed oranges out of the fridge and with a VERY sharp knife cut them into segments and arrange on a tray.

Step TEN…

Bring them to zee partay for enjoyment.

Alternatively if the orange slices are beyond your bother and all you want to do is get quickly wasted, then the mixture can be pored into disposable shot glasses. Also, if they are being made for the novelty of the jelly slices the alcohol can be left out and be substitued with more water and juice… if thats yo thing!

Finally for different arangements i highly sugest scooping out lemons and adding vodka instead of the rum or even with scooped out limes and gin!

ENJOY :)

11-11-11 (+1)

So, this week was meant to be that magically glorious week in which I would finally get on top of all my college work and study a wee bit too. The week off from lectures however did not go to plan at all and I’m still left with lab reports, programs to code and study to do. Fail of epic proportions..

What happened? Well, those simply ‘small’ tasks had built up so grand that, that’s, what took most of my time. Laundry is now clean, my room doesn’t look like the aftermath of grand robbery anymore (just a small one) and the files in my computer are now in order…. yep, that was my week, lets pretend it’s some success :) Agreed? Sweeet!

The photos this week are rather simple. I had thought I’d be able to create some great images but TIME seemed to be gone before i had the chance so I snapped what was around me. The eye is my mothers while she stood soundly in the living room with the light upon her face. The golden leaf is one which i found sitting on a bare Christmas tree in the center of town. I must have looked quite strange to onlookers but when did that ever stop me, eh. The other leaves are ones I passed, liked and snapped, hurrrah!

Now, the orange slices are in fact NOT orange slices but JELLO SHOTS.. not just any jello shots tho, captain morgan infused orange ones. Oh yes, NOMS! Later on this week I will put up a post on how to create these delicious supersplit gems. For now, you view the photo and imagine such a treat. The blackboard beneath is the scoreboard for the beer Olympics which I made them for. Shall also dedicate a loving post to the epic night, yeeeeow :)

To finish this post, I must thank all the people who said such lovely things to me over my last post. Your words meant so much to me and i can’t thank you enough. I was honestly so scared, your all amazing x

Until next time,
